“When will I go to bed & how much sleep makes me well rested and ready for the day?”

Getting enough rest makes everything better. It is a key component to a life well lived. Thinking about being in top form creates valuable context for the question. It gets our thinking to work for us.

Sleep is supremely important. Few things that make such a remarkable difference that are as simple to do as sleep.

And yet, so common for students to be [and look] sleep deprived.

Let’s think of your life at school like a video game. In this game you have a health meter or power shield.  Read the Kenzai article about the will power shield for a great illustration of this concept. Clearly, keeping your health meter or power shield sufficiently full is a key success factor in successful gaming. The same is true in life.

Two things drive your success in keeping your HEALTH METER full: Habits and Will. The more you embrace a habit – the less will power it takes. So make sleep a habit supported area of excellence.

SLEEP quality is enhanced by consistency and opportunity. Make a habit of going to bed [sleep] at approximately the same time each night and in the same place.
